Engineer I - Traffic Operations
Overview
Under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) and as a member of an engineering project team, this position will provide technical support on transportation/traffic operations projects. Your technical experience will be enhanced by your engagement in the activities and experiences planned for you - it’s the Pape-Dawson Way!
Responsibilities
Assist a Project Manager in the production of traffic and transportation design plans.
Prepare intersection, signing and pavement marking plans.
Prepare studies which include traffic impact, transportation planning and traffic safety.
Prepare and make presentations for all types of technical meetings.
Meet project goals and deadlines.
Be present and willing to learn from anyone and everyone.
Be active in our Pape-Dawson activities- we have lots of fun while serving each other, our community and clients!
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
Previous experience through an internship with a civil design firm is excellent but certainly not required.
Be familiar with engineering principles, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others is key and critical to your long-term success.
Flexibility in managing job tasks as deadlines and priorities change - and they can as you develop your technical expertise .
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Excel is really beneficial but we can teach you what you need to know so it is not required.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with occasional overtime- sometimes you just have to be willing to work together and get the job done outside the normal business day.
Must be reliable and dependable- your team will be counting on you!
