Principal Plasma Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment
Job Description:
The Principal Plasma Engineer will lead the development and optimization of plasma-based processes for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The role involves innovating plasma technologies, troubleshooting, and ensuring high precision and efficiency in semiconductor fabrication processes such as etching and deposition. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers while driving advancements in plasma applications for next-generation semiconductor devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of RF plasma systems (e.g., PECVD, ALD, plasma etching) for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Drive advancements in plasma generation, coupling, and control systems to enhance process efficiency and yield.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, product, and process engineering teams for seamless integration of plasma technologies.
- Manage the development and validation of plasma processes and components from concept through mass production.
- Oversee strategic RF plasma projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Stay updated on the latest plasma technology trends to drive continuous innovation.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and innovation.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Plasma Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution (preferably U.S.-based).
- Proven expertise in plasma process development and optimization for semiconductor equipment (e.g., etching, deposition).
- Strong understanding of plasma diagnostics, material interactions, and process control.
- Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience at companies like AMAT, TEL, LAM Research, or similar semiconductor equipment manufacturers.
- Published research or patents in plasma-related technologies for semiconductor processes.
- Established industry network within plasma and semiconductor engineering sectors.
