Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic

Duties

  • Provide support in the areas of operation, maintenance, troubleshooting. and repair of the large and complex systems utilized for air conditioning and heating of various historic and non-historic buildings, operating, installing. repairing. and maintaining several types of HVAC equipment.
  • Make repairs to electrical and mechanical evaporators their blowers, motors: install. service and maintain condensed cooling towers and their fans. fan motors, blowers, exhaust and water pumps.
  • Read and comprehend blueprint, technical manual, sketches, building plans an notes: follow manufacturer's instruction and safety manuals for tools, materials and equipment: Follow Local, State, Federal, and international building codes.
  • Ability to select required materials and number of materials needed.
  • Check and inspect equipment. tools, and systems to perform preventive maintenance corrective action.

  • Direct Deposit: Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • Incidental Driving: You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle. You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists. Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. Please indicate in your application whether you possess a valid State driver's license.
  • Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • Probationary Period: If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • Certification Requirement: You will be required to have an EPA Section 608 of the Clean Air Act Certification card and EPA number.

SCREEN OUT: Examples of creditable experience for this position include the following: providing support in the areas of operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the large and complex systems utilized for air conditioning and heating various historic and non-historic buildings; operating, installing, repairing, and maintaining several types of HVAC systems and controls, with a variety of components (heating systems include: forced air gas, forced air hot water, forced air direct expansion, electric radiator, and geothermal) (cooling systems include: forced air, chill water, forced air direct expansion, and geothermal) (components include but are not limited to: natural gas boilers, steam heat exchangers, reheat coils, variable air volume diffusers, air handlers with heating, cooling, and re-heat coils, makeup air units, outside air supply fans/ducts, exhaust fans, evaporator/condenser coils and fans, pumps and motors from ¼ through 150 horsepower, and digital controls).

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Must possess Certification Technician credentials for the EPA Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act.
