Thermal/CFD Engineer - ThermoAnalytics, Inc. - Hancock, Michigan

ThermoAnalytics, Inc. (TAI), a leading provider of thermal and infrared simulation software and services, seeks a highly motivated and technically driven Thermal/CFD Engineer to join their defense-focused engineering team in the Hancock, Michigan areaThis is a full-time position with a flexible start date (preferably between May – June of 2024), planned as a hybrid remote position (with 2-3 days per week in office). WHAT YOU WILL DO. 

Thermal/CFD Analysis

  • Set-up/run thermal, EO/IR and CFD simulation models; analyze and interpret simulation results.
  • Research and develop modeling techniques and simulation processes for new defense applications.
  • Manage defense projects; contribute to technical proposals and reports; participate in field tests.

Technical Support & Sales Support

  • Provide technical support and problem solving to defense customers via email, phone, and/or site visits.
  • Collaborate with Sales Team to provide technical input on defense project proposals.
  • Respond to product inquiries and support pre-sales activities related to defense applications.
  • Provide technical support to Sales Team on visits to existing and prospective defense customers.
  • Lead presentations on technical materials during customer briefings, webinars and conferences.
  • Establish positive relationships w/customers via phone, email, trade shows, conferences and site visits.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • $65,000 – $85,000 annual starting wage based on your knowledge and relevant experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS.

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (emphasis on heat transfer and EO/IR physics).
  • Experience or strong interest in Thermal/Infrared Analysis and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Strong organization, project coordination, and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • To conform to U.S. Government regulations, applicants must be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States. Final candidates may be required to undergo a thorough background check, credit check and/or drug screen. Active security clearance is a bonus.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS.

  • Experience using CAD/CAE tools (e.g., MuSES, TAITherm, Star-CCM+, Blender, GT-SUITE).
  • Direct experience in any of these technical areas: 3D Surface and Volume Meshing, Heat Transfer/Thermal Analysis & Simulation, Electro-Optic Sensor Modeling, Infrared Physics, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Field Test Validation, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Human Comfort Analysis, Numerical Methods, High Performance Computing, Battery Thermal Analysis and/or Data Processing.
  • Experience designing/implementing/debugging/testing computer code (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.).
  • A willingness and ability to travel domestically/internationally (approx. 2-4 times per year).
