Mechanical Engineering Intern

The Ultra Mechanical Engineering function is responsible for the design, development, test, and documentation of mechanical assemblies for products, which includes new development, change orders, process improvements, and documentation. It supports designs throughout the concept, development and production stages of the system life cycle.

 

The role holder will perform the full range of clearly defined procedures and will typically be considered skilled through on-the-job experience. Resolves routine issues without supervisory approval. Has developed skills through formal training and/or work experience.

 

Support the engineering staff in the following areas:

  • Create specifications and drawings for tools, fixtures, gages, equipment, and processes.
  • Work with associates to obtain ideas to continuously improve work systems and processes.
  • Produce detailed drawings showing all necessary tolerances and dimensions, required by each manufacturing operation.
  • Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards in accordance with modern methods and procedures.
  • Utilize 3D CAD modeling software to draft component and assembly design records
  • Support Logistics or installation team with engineering efforts that support the customer.
  • May provide improvement suggestions to manufacturing and/ or assembly processes
  • Other tasks as assigned by management.

 

Requirements:

  • Candidate must have completed freshman year in a Mechanical (or Aerospace/Industrial) Engineering program at an accredited four year college/university.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Familiar with 3D CAD Programs such as Solidworks or Inventor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work with little supervision.
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.

 

Desirable skills include: programming experience/knowledge in python and being skilled in Finite Element Analysis.
