Outside Plant Designer (Fiber & Geographic Information System)

Summary

Join our team as an Outside Plant (OSP) Designer and play a pivotal role in creating and updating digital data maps for client fiber optic and other communication networks. As an OSP Designer, you'll import field data into our GIS-based design software and collaborate with engineering staff to develop preliminary and final system designs. This includes producing map books, plan and profile layouts, and permit applications for construction services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce drawings for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Complete basic drafting tasks as assigned.
  • Oversee the print production of plan sets.
  • Address errors promptly and effectively.
  • Efficiently manage time to meet project budgets and schedules.
  • Consult GIS Standards/How-To’s and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Conduct thorough self-checks of work, incorporating minor red line markups from the PM/CSM.
  • Apply fundamental drawing elements within the preferred GIS platform.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Education and Experience

  • Minimum associate's degree (A. A.) or two-year degree in Geographic Information, Systems,Computer Sciences, Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
  • Experience with GIS databases and editing using ESRI ArcGIS based software, including utilization of ESRI software and Global Positioning System (GPS) units for data collection.
  • Familiarity with creating designs in Civil3D or other CAD-based systems is strongly preferred, as the position may involve civil/infrastructure design for various units within the company.
  • Knowledge of O-Calc or other Pole Loading Analysis software is advantageous.
  • Additional experience with fiber design software such as 3-GIS, VETRO, MAPINFO, OSPINSIGHT, SCHNEIDER, and/or ARAMIS is a plus.

Compensation Range 

$23.56 per hour - $38.61 per hour 

The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
