Civil/Structural Engineering Intern (Paid)

The intern’s primary function is observing & supporting our engineering & CAD team. The Engineering Intern spends a large portion of their time shadowing our team, learning best engineering practices. This role is best suited for individuals who prefer a structured work environment with consistent guidance. This is a paid, temporary role that does not offer insurance, paid holidays, vacation time, or participation in the company’s 401k plan. This is not a remote role; interns are expected to perform their duties from our location in Perry, FL. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate: $20.00/Hour

Duration of Role: This is a temporary position lasting for a single school semester. Estimated duration is May 6th – August 23rd, 2024.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create and update project records.
  • Attend meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Observe engineering team and successfully execute processes and procedures.
  • Conduct internet research.
  • Assist with preparation of project sketches.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Must have working knowledge of design and modeling software.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.

Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers, management, vendors, and customers.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copiers, printers, and telephones.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 95% of the time.

Normal office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am - 5:00 pm. Candidates must work between 24 – 27 hours per week but may flex their schedule within normal office hours.
