Duty Location: Bismarck, North Dakota and Rapid City, South Dakota

Salary

$72,553 - $94,317 per year

Duties

-Serve as the primary technical specialist for all National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) compliance activities.
-Assist the Area manager with planning and overseeing Cultural Resources Management program activities. Activities include but are not limited to: assuring compliance with Regional and Reclamation CRM policies and procedures, and legal authorities; facilitating the protection and preservation of archeological sites; drafting area office CRM program implementation statements.
-Serve as the technical regulatory and policy expert for activities and issues pertaining to federal laws and regulations including but not limited to the National Historic Preservation Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and Paleontological Resources Preservation Act.
-Conduct archeological inventory surveys and investigations, resource evaluations, and archive and document research.
-Prepare special technical reports and permits in relation to museum and historic properties and provide technical assistance to government and/or contracting personnel involved in preparing such reports and/or permits.
-Collaborate with internal and external staff and officials to maintain compliance and consistency with policy and program recommendations and guidelines.
