Drone Mapping Specialist

As a Drone Mapping Specialist, you will play a crucial role in gathering data and creating detailed maps and models for various projects. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise and help us with our civil engineering projects in a professional and collaborative environment.

Position Summary:

You will be responsible for developing accurate and efficient maps using drone technology.

Primary duties:

Utilize drone technology to collect ground elevations, high-resolution images, videos, and other data.
Plan and execute flights ensuring safety and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Process and analyze data to create accurate 2D and 3D maps, models, and reports.
Identify potential obstacles or issues that may affect mapping accuracy and address them proactively.
Conduct research and stay up to date with industry standards, codes, and regulations to improve processes.
Collaborating with other team members, including architects, surveyors, contractors, and clients.
Will be require to travel to job sites.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, or related field.
1-2 years’ experience as a Drone Operator or similar role.
Ability to operate Drone equipment and software, such as DJI Go, DroneDeploy, or similar.
Knowledge of land surveying principles, techniques, and equipment
Familiarity with GPS, GIS, and CAD software.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.

Preferred Experience:

Familiarity with ArcGIS
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Familiarity with LiDAR and photogrammetric data processing
Possess FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Technical Proficiency: As a drone mapping dpecialist, you must have a thorough understanding of drone technology, including the components, and how to operate them effectively.
Flight Planning and Navigation: You must be able to plan and execute flights safely and efficiently while understanding airspace regulations, weather conditions and potential hazards.
Safety Consciousness: Safety should be a top priority and adherence to all relevant laws and regulations governing drone operations is a must.
Effective Communication: Express yourself clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing. Good communication also includes active listening and following instructions accurately.
Continuous Learning: The drone industry is constantly evolving with new technologies and regulations emerging regularly. Be committed to ongoing learning and staying up to date.
